Planet Fassa has many activities (we call them Nuggets!), all of which are tagged with heart, mind, & body points. Your child can track his or her points online, while earning nearly all of the points offline! Here is an example of one of our Nuggets:
Description: Go on an Outdoor Photo Hunt! Together, make a creative list of things to find outside and then search for them. Use your imagination!
Setting: At Home, Outdoors
People: Any Size!
Stuff: Camera (see directions for details), Paper, Writing Utensils
Nugget Directions
1. Get a camera you can use, you can also use an iPhone or a cellphone camera. Remember to ask for permission to use the camera and to go outside.
2. First, make a list of things (clues) you can find outside, close to home. Be creative with your list. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Something that flies.
Something that makes you feel small.
Something that makes you feel happy.
Something that reminds you of a memory.
Something that reminds you of you.
Something that makes you want to dance.
3. Next, with your camera, go outside and find things on your list. If you have more than 1 camera, break into groups or go by yourself on the photo hunt. When you find a clue from your list, take a picture of it. If you want, you can write down what it is next to your clue to help remind you what picture goes with what clue.
4. When you are finished with your photo hunt, go inside and look at the pictures together. Talk about how you found all the clues. If you used a regular or disposable camera, ask a Village Member to get the film developed, and look at all your photos together and talk about them. Fassa Challenge
Keep the fun going with an extra challenge.
1. Get a group of 3 people together, 1 person is the “List Maker” and the other 2 are the “Finders”. The List Maker creates the list for the Finders. Once the list is made, the Finders go on the hunt. When the Finders are finished, they share the pictures with the List Maker and talk about how they found all the clues. Take turns being the List Maker.
