I set up this play group as a volunteer in order to give parents and their children another option for play groups during the summer.
I’m a somewhat new parent. My daughter is 15 months old and I am also a stay-at-home dad (I have a blog: http://sahdinlansing.com). There are not a lot of organized activities for children my daughter’s age. Many of the local nature centers have some program for little ones, but nothing for under the age of 2. I also know the importance of getting your child outdoors and although I know this, I still need an extra push at times (especially in the morning) to get my daughter outside for activities. I know I’m not the only parent who struggles with this. As a result I wanted to start an outdoor group in order to meet other parents/children that we could participate in those activities with.
One of the other reasons for doing the group is to give parents an idea of everything our community offers. Already after 4 weeks, I’ve only be to one of the parks before that point. It’s giving all of us opportunities to see what the community has to offer and to find some of the great parks/playgrounds available to us as well.
