A little greeting from my parent’s backyard in Norway. Since we have arrived, our days have been full of hikes in the forest or adventures by the sea. Yesterday, was a “stay close to home” day as we relaxed in my parent’s backyard.
My mom and dad have a lot of fruit and berry trees and bushes growing in their garden. Yesterday, we picked raspberries, black currant and red currant with “grandpa”. We also enjoyed helping grandpa rake grass and put it in the wheelbarrow. The grass made a perfect nest to take a ride in the wheelbarrow.
Rain doesn’t seem to be very far away in Norway this summer. As it started to rain we grab our buckets and though we had a little trouble not eating all the berries we picked, most made it to the kitchen to be made into pie.
If you don’t have access to my parent’s backyard, go to a Farmers Market and check out what is in season and you can make fresh pie with your kids. Pie with raspberries and red currant is this summer’s favorite for us.
