Looks like fall in New England, right? Nope, it’s January.
I thought we’d have trouble adjusting back to the cold weather after being in Florida. Well, turns out I had no problem, but it’s been a little bit of a chore to get the kids outside lately. With such a mild fall, they’re just starting to get into the swing of things when it comes to, “Here’s a hat. Keep your mittens on your hands are purple!” and all that stuff.
There’s one thing that will always get the kids outside- snow. We had two very light dustings- so light that the only snow we actually saw when we woke up was on our slide, and yesterday the snow was gone just after noon time. Both times the kids had to run out to the snow and both times it was so short lived that I didn’t even get a picture. Yesterday my son cried about the fact that we have no snow!
So…it’s a good thing we signed him up for ski lessons at the local hill. He had a great lesson last week so we’re looking forward to his next one tomorrow. They make their own snow, so it’s the only place around where he can get his fill of the white stuff. And when I say get his fill, I mean that literally because he loves to eat snow. I’ve come to the conclusion that it is impossible to keep him from doing this altogether, so I’ve tried to tell him what kind of snow he shouldn’t eat- parking lot snow, yellow snow, etc.
Other ways we’ve been getting out- walks/rides around the neighborhood. On Saturday is was so warm in the sun that we had no coats on at the playground and we had a nice picnic. There were many other people at the playground, too
I hope to get posts up more frequently again. We’re still getting back in the swing of things after being on vacation. Keep getting out there!
