If you have been following us for a while you know that we grow potatoes every year. We have tried different methods every year and this year, we grew potatoes from seed potatoes bought at a nursery to see if we got better results then last year.
Anyway, growing potatoes is a rewarding and fun activity to do with kids, but it also teaches your kids food knowledge. After all, potatoes might be the most used vegetable at the dinner table.
We harvested our potatoes and made homemade potato chips. If you did not grow any potatoes this year, go out and buy some new potatoes from the Farmers Market.
Potato Chips
You need:
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Potato peeler
Cheese pull
This is how you do it:
Wash and rinse potatoes. Use a potato peeler or a cheese pull and slice potatoes in thin slices. Drizzle your chips lightly with olive oil and sprinkle salt and pepper on the chips. Small hands like to mix in salt and pepper. Spread out on a tray and bake at 400 F oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
