I had a lot of fun biking with my first child on a front bike seat. My daughter loved it and I liked having her in front of me. Today, I’m happy to say she is a wonderful biker thanks in no small part, to her Like-A-Bike and perhaps an early introduction to biking. For our family it is a way of living and we will use the bike as an active mode of transportation to get around in the city. We also enjoy biking just for fun.
When the new baby came, it made sense to get a new bike (the old one was heavy and worn out) and a new front bike seat. Last time we had a WeeRide, so we decided to try the Ibert.
Ibert
We bought our seat one year ago and started to ride it with our baby. We ordered our seat through our local bike dealer and they installed the bike seat for us. My toddler loves the bike seat as she loves to sit in the front and see what is going on. The straps works nicely and the bar works well, (there was a defect that the shop gladly replaced) and the padding on the seat seems comfortable for her. This model is also good for tall people like me as you have good room for your legs and I find the bike with the seat is stable and easy to ride.
The only two things I do not like with this bike seat is:
I miss the padded front that the WeeRide utilizes as it gives the child more support when they fall asleep. With this bike I need to be mindful to always try to use the bike before or after naptime as this bike seat is more of an “awake” seat for your child and does not give the child good support if they are snoozey.
Generally, I like the quality of construction of the Ibert over the WeeRide, but would like to be able to combine the two’s features.
I miss the front support that also gave a bit of wind and rain shield, but I find the Ibert better to ride.
I don’t like to say this, but I am torn between the two seats. If you want your child to be able to fall asleep, I would choose the WeeRide as my first child loved sleeping in her bike seat. On the other hand if you are tall like me and you find yourself riding a bit bow legged, the Ibert seat gives you more room to pedal.
