We have a gadget in our family, it is like having a dog or being famous.
People stop, people wave, people point. And all this attention is for a bike; it is a Like a Bike.
So what is this?
Like a Bike is a wooden bike with out any pedals. Made in Germany by Kokua.
It is a toy for kids between 2-5 years of age. The bike has adjustable seats so it can fallow the child from 2 to 5 years of age. The bike is made out of plywood, but Kokua also offer bikes in aluminum.
For safety
For safety, Like a Bikes has no sharp edges and no gap between the frame and the fork. It is filled with felt, so your child’s fingers can’t get caught. The felt also prevents the front wheel from making sharp turns. The folks behind the Like a Bike believe (me too) that training wheels don’t help kids to bike earlier; it is just delaying their process to bike on a regular bike.

Like a bike teaches kids the balance
The hardest thing to figure out for kids is how to get the balance, a Like a Bike teaches kids the balance. Once they have managed the balance the pedaling is easy thing for kids to figure out.
Got a Like a Bike, 2.5 yers old
My child got a Like a Bike when she was 2.5 years old. It did not take long before she got the balance figured out, and soon she would scoot her legs and make the bike glide around, and learn how to stop the bike with her feet.
Part of the family on hikes and walks
The Like a Bike soon becomes a part of the family on hikes and walks. It made it easier for us as she could keep up with us on our adventures. It also boosted her confident and her motor skills.
We have used the bike both indoors and outdoors, indoors more like a toy, outside like a regular bike.
Riding a regular bike
When she just turned 4 we introduced a regular bike to her without any training wheels and in five minutes she was riding a regular bike!
The day after; as a family, We rode our bikes together for two kilometers.
