Babies sleep in prams

0

What do Elin Nordegren (wife of Tiger Woods) and I have in common? Not a lot. But one thing we probably share is we slept outside in our prams even in the winter. Regardless of the weather when we were growing up in Scandinavia.

Treehugger recently posted a story about the “crazy” Scandinavians letting their babies sleep outside in their pram. Well if you were snuggled up in a wonderful pram inside a toasty bag of sheepskin, maybe you would sleep outside too. Whether you let your baby sleep outside, or just embrace the elements on a long walk, a good pram makes all the difference. Sorry, strollers and hybrid buggies just don’t do it for me. Three-wheelers are OK, but there is something special about a pram..

There are not many pram lovers in North America. But there must be more than I think since so many people stop and ask me where I got mine when I’m out walking with my baby. I can’t be the only one loving the old fashion pram.

In many places in Europe, they still love big prams. If you are interested in getting one, go online and search prams. EBay is a great way to get bargains on used and new one. The well-known ones are out there, but you can also find small-unknown brands as well.

Recognized brands are Simo, Brio, Tetunia, Emmaljunga, Quinny and Inglesina.

 Our favorites.

 Silver Cross Balmoral Pram

Silver Cross-

With a price tag of £845.00, it is not accessible for most of us (unless you are married to a superstar professional athlete). But we can dream can’t we? The Rolls Royce of prams, craftsmen in Yorkshire make each one. If you ever see one you are in love for life.

SIMO

This pram is from my hometown, so I’m a little bit biased. If you ever go to Norway you will see that this pram is the most used amongst the moms. It is a SUV/Volvo machine that will resist any kind of weather.

Big tires and with plenty of room for groceries, makes this one very popular. It converts into the sitting position when the child is big enough to sit up.

It is hard to find this in North America; you best bet is to look for it online used.

PRAM BIS BUGGY

I found this buggy on EBay though it is not a well-known brand. It has the same size and snow clearance and I fell in love with the colors and flowers. The price was also good for this kind of pram.. The suspension is not quite as good as the Simo, but it cost half of what you would pay for a Simo and so far it has not failed us and we are very happy with it and my baby sleeps well on our walks.
